This project research explores the concept of the hybrid POOL installation, which combines digital and physical elements to create an interactive and inclusive learning environment.

Inspired by the idea of 'Taking a Line for a Walk' and influenced by Donna Haraway's work, the project aims to redefine traditional hierarchies and empower participants to actively contribute to the design process.

Through a series of workshops, discussions, and hands-on exercises, diverse perspectives from architecture, media architecture, public arts, and media arts are brought together to shape a collective understanding of hybrid learning spaces. The deliberate loss of control and implementation of rules within the workshops foster a sense of equality and collaboration, dismantling hierarchical structures. The output of the POOL includes the creation of a collective junkspace, re-remembering shared experiences, producing inclusive frameworks, delivering hierarchies, and communicating without verbal language. The hybrid POOL installation offers a dynamic and inclusive approach to learning and design, encouraging participants to navigate a collaborative landscape where diverse perspectives converge to shape a shared understanding.

The purpose of the Hybrid POOL installation is to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment by combining digital and physical elements. It aims to rethink how we interact with shared spaces and promote collaboration, collective experiences, and creativity. The installation empowers participants to contribute their own rules and ideas, dismantling traditional power structures. It also encourages communication beyond verbal language, fostering dialogue and connection among diverse perspectives. The Hybrid Pool installation seeks to create a space where participants actively shape the trajectory of the workshops and navigate a collaborative landscape together.
The objectives of the workshops are as follows:

Encourage participants to share their perspectives, ideas, and insights on the theme of hybrid learning spaces.

Explore the theme experientially, encouraging participants to express their ideas in a tangible way.

Empower participants to actively shape the trajectory of the workshops by discussing the future direction and soliciting suggestions from participants on topics, activities, or formats for upcoming sessions.

Create an environment where no single participant has absolute authority over the design task, fostering a sense of equality among participants and ensuring that the design process becomes a collective effort rather than a directive from a single authority.

Diminish control, dismantle hierarchy, and provide a framework for initiatives to empower participants to work together more effectively, building a collective and dynamic creative environment.

Foster a non-verbal communication approach, where participants can understand and communicate with each other through actions, movements, and design considerations without relying on verbal language.
The three-part structure followed in the workshops is as follows:

Discussion: The workshops begin with open conversations and discussions where participants from diverse backgrounds, including architecture, media architecture, public arts, and media arts, share their perspectives, ideas, and insights on the theme of hybrid learning spaces. The aim is to generate a collective understanding of the subject and foster an environment where everyone's input is valued.

Hands-on Exercises: After the discussions, the workshops move on to hands-on activities that allow participants to explore the theme experientially and express their ideas in a tangible way. Activities like body mapping or design exercises using materials such as dough are conducted to tap into different learning styles and creative expressions. This hands-on approach promotes a deeper engagement with the subject matter.

Collaborative Decision-Making: The workshops conclude with a collaborative planning session where participants are empowered to actively shape the trajectory of the workshops. They are asked for suggestions on topics, activities, or formats for upcoming sessions. This collaborative decision-making ensures that the workshops remain responsive to the participants' interests and reinforces the collective nature of the learning experience.

The objective of the discussions in the workshops is to encourage participants to share their perspectives, ideas, and insights on the theme of hybrid learning spaces. The discussions aim to generate a collective understanding of the subject and foster an environment where everyone's input is valued.

Hands-on exercises:

The objective of hands-on exercises is to explore the theme of hybrid learning spaces experientially. Participants are encouraged to express their ideas in a tangible way through activities like body mapping or design exercises using materials such as dough. The goal is to tap into different learning styles and creative expressions, providing a platform for participants to translate their thoughts into physical or visual forms. This hands-on approach promotes a deeper engagement with the subject matter.

Collaborative decision-making:

The objective of collaborative decision-making is to empower participants to actively shape the trajectory of the workshops.
Participants are invited to discuss and contribute their suggestions on topics, activities, or formats for upcoming sessions.
This collaborative planning ensures that the workshops remain responsive to the participants' interests and reinforces the collective nature of the learning experience.
It manifests a non-hierarchical approach, where decisions are made collectively, and everyone's input is valued.

Overall, the hands-on exercises aim to provide a platform for participants to creatively engage with the theme of hybrid learning spaces, while collaborative decision-making empowers participants to actively shape the direction of the workshops and ensures a collective and inclusive learning experience.
